How-To be a mommy blogger

I always get really excited when people want to get into blogging. There are many people out there that make a living out of blogging, and honestly, as someone who loves to write, I find it very therapeutic. Well, a friend of mine (a stay at home mom) recently contacted me about maybe starting a blog. She had 3 questions for me. 1. Have you ever been able to make money by blogging? 2. How does ad placement work? In other words, how do you make money from ads and does it go by the number of hits you have on a blog? 3. Also.. what would you recommend for a free(to test the waters first) blog hosting site that has nice design options? Some of the biggest blogs out there are blogs run by stay at home moms, probably because they are at home and have the time to write, and are big because their target audience is also at home and has time to read them. One of my favorite technology journalists started her mommy blog and it has done very well. The key here, more than anything is consistency. You have to stick to a schedule (I have some tools that makes this very easy), whatever that schedule may be. Still interested? Keep reading for my take on these questions. […]

This used to be a simple matter, but it seems to have gotten harder. Check out the screenshots below on how to view your current likes. […]

Google Apps MSN Delivery Status Notification (Failure) Error

When it comes to email, Google apps has been a Godsend. It enables small companies to run efficient cloud based email systems that are protected and secure. This service is provided by Google for free for up to 10 users, allowing small companies to avoid the high cost of an exchange server entirely. Unfortunately, free is not always free, since a service like this does not come with any technical support. That is where we come in. We recently had a client with an issue with their Google apps account. The account worked fine, but when someone with an MSN, Live, or Hotmail email address would try to contact them, they would get an undeliverable error, its available after the break. […]

How to Use Your External HDD as an Xbox Movie Hub

So, I just got my new Xbox 360 Slim! I absolutely love it! Its small, quite, and uses the new wireless N standard, which means next to zero buffering while watching my Netflix vids! Now, Netflix isn’t the only entertainment I get from my Xbox. I also like playing my ripped DVD’s on it, which usually involves me hunting around for my memory stick, and copying the files over. The problem with this is that my movie library is located on my computer, not on a hard drive, so after each video, I have to go in and run back to my computer, and reload the next episode of what ever show I am watching or movie I might be viewing. So, while this isn’t terribly inconvenient, its a pain in the haunches. Thankfully, I have a little trick that can turn that old external USB hard drive you have laying around into your Xbox Media Repository. Read on for the details! […]

How to fix the Evo 4g Purple Camera issue

I have been using the HTC EVO 4g for quite some time now, almost 2 years. I have never really had any issues with it, and it has always been a reliable phone. Unfortunately, due to my hacking adventures with it, a few months ago, my phone shut down, and would not turn on, it would simply show the HTC logo screen, turn off, and do it again. It wouldnt let me put it into recovery, or respond to any of my commands. I bit the bullet and took it in to Sprint, and they gave me a replacement. Unfortunately, the replacement after a month or two began to show a strange purple tinge, and it got worse and worse. I flashed different roms to the phone, thinking it may be a software issue, but it did not help. I finally took it into the store, and they confirmed that it was a hardware issue and fixed it in just a few minutes. A few days ago I had the same issue, and I did not want to go to the store, since the wait is ridiculous, so I started looking online for the answer, and lo and behold, I found it! Read on to see what fixed it! […]

How to One touch dub VHS to DVD on the Sony RDR-VX525

Wow! What an amazing aggravating machine! I have spent almost an hour fighting with the Sony RDR-VX525, trying to get it to One Touch dub a stupid VHS tape to dvd! Ok, let me backtrack a little bit. My family purchased an RDR-VX525 a little under 3 months ago, brand new from Amazon. We were really excited because our garage is the elephant graveyard of VHS tapes. We have hundreds and hundreds of VHS cassette tapes stacked in mountains, almost to the ceiling! We wanted to put a dent in that stack, and shrink them down to DVD size. Well, let me tell you, it is a frustrating experience. […]

Have you ever heard of the Envato Marketplace? No? Neither had I for the longest time! This website is a place for designers to sell their digital wares, legally and in a friendly environment, without having to have their own E-commerce solution in place. Why is this important? Read on to find out! […]
