Ingress: The coolest game you can't play (yet)

Today, while on vacation, I received an interesting email from Google. I had finally gotten accepted into the Niantic labs ingress closed beta of the game Ingress. I had completely forgotten about the game except for the app that was installed on my phone. I quickly fired up the app and to my pleasant surprise, the game began. Ingress, if you don’t know, is a massive augmented reality game. You go through the game gathering a resource called XM by physically moving from place to place. Tonight, after playing for about 20 minutes, I was pretty exhausted. Granted, I was in the sand, and I had no idea what I was doing, but it was still pretty amazing. Because many of the hotspots are centers of tourism, I see this raising a lot of awareness for local spots in town. I know that before today, I had no interest in going the US post office in San Juan, but now I wouldn’t mind considering there is a giant portal located there. Anyway, read on for more info and a bunch of screenshots. […]

TouchPal Keyboard Review – The keyboard you never knew you needed

Lets face it, the default keyboard on android typically sucks. It can either be clunky, difficult to use, or just hard to navigate. The beauty of Android is that unlike iOs, you are not stuck with it. Well, in my time, I have played with many keyboards, some good, some bad, some downright terrible! I will cover some of those at a later time, but for now, I want to cover a keyboard called TouchPal. It has given me hope for the future, and when I wipe my phone, this is one of the first things I install. It’s hard to put into words just how great this keyboard is. Ok, now that I am done gushing, read on my in-depth review.  […]

iPad App Review – Tower Defense HD: Lost Earth

Addictive is such a strong word, but I think that when it comes to describing this game, it is not strong enough. I installed this game a few months back, wanting to play some tower defense games, but it was my wife that actually started playing it. She has been addicted for about 2-3 weeks now, coming home, and getting on and playing the game for a very very long time. This should be somewhat of a hint as to how good this game is. Read on for my complete review. […]

Android App Review – Google+ Mobile App

Well, what a busy few days it has been! Working on the Google+ social network has been great, and part of the reason is their awesome mobile app! These past few days I have been using the Android app, and it has all but replaced Facebook for me. Keep reading for my impressions. The App is simple and straightforward, and keeps me up to date on what is going on in the world of Google plus. Plus, it has one of my new favorite features, instant upload! When you snap a photo on your phone, it is instantly uploaded to the cloud, and you can then later share it with your friends. I have found a con with this, and it is that when you mount your android device and copy image files over to your phone, ALL those photos are treated as new pictures and are uploaded to picasa. This is bad because I had to remove all my pictures yesterday, and then I readded them to the memory card in a different folder and they began to upload, using up my battery with all the network communication. I had to uninstall Google+ Mobile and re-install it so that it would ignore all pre-existing images. It would be nice if they included an option to instant upload that would allow you to ignore images prior to right now. Other than that, it worked quite smoothly. Keep reading for my impressions. iPhone App Review – Evie App makes driving and Facebooking a breeze!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Evie. All opinions are 100% mine. Have you seen the Super bowl ad for the Cevy Cruze? The one with the couple that kissed? If not, take a moment to view it, and you will see that the Ad centers around the Cruze being able to read out your posts to you live and in the car. The drawback? You have to buy a new car! Now, you don’t need to shell out thousands of dollars to get that functionality. […]

Android App Review – Download All Files

One of the things that keeps android from completely replacing a computer, is the fact that it doesnt support every file format out there. While this is technically a good thing, as I don’t want to be editing a photoshop file on my phone, it would be nice to be able to download said photoshop file from my gmail and use the memory card on my phone as a temporary storage. […]

Android Gingerbread Keyboard Review

This weekend, I had some time to kill, so I installed the new Gingerbread keyboard on my Evo 4G. I spent the whole weekend playing with it, and getting to know it, so here is my review.   PRO’s 1. I like how it looks! I use a custom rom and it brings its own pretty keyboard, but I miss the industrial look of the original android keyboard. This brings it all back. […]
