Project Description

n8n DevRel build · Slack operations

Slack is where your team already lives — so why make them leave it for routine operations? I turned Slack from a chat tool into a full operations hub: HR workflows, IT requests, file management and more, all as rich interactive experiences right inside Slack.

The build includes a custom file-upload bot backed by S3 and a Cloudflare CDN, HR onboarding and offboarding automation, IT tool-access request flows, SSL certificate issuance, and a bug-reporting system — every one driven by polished Block Kit interfaces with slash commands, event subscriptions, and interactive shortcuts.

The result is dramatically less context-switching. Instead of juggling five tools for five processes, everything happens in the one app the team already has open all day — requests tracked, approvals routed, nothing slipping through the cracks.

Part 2 — deploying the Slack apps

Both walkthroughs were recorded back in December 2024 — a year before the big labs started shipping “AI lives in your chat.” Fair warning: they run long and a little unpolished, from before I’d figured out how to cut a tight video. The ideas hold up better than the pacing. 😅
